Tangkoko nature park

pardise is a paradise for birders. With over 150 bird species recorded in the park, including 47 endemics to Sulawesi, it's a place where you can see some truly unique feathered creatures.

Diversity of habitats: The park encompasses rainforests, mangroves, coastline, and lowlands, providing a variety of habitats for different bird species.

Endemic birds:Sulawesi has many endemic bird species, meaning they can't be found anywhere else in the world. Tangkoko is a great place to see these birds, such as the Red-knobbed Hornbill, the Sulawesi Tarsier, and the Maleo bird

Easy accessibility: The park is relatively easy to get to and explore, with trails suitable for all fitness levels.

Some of the birds you can expect to see in Tangkoko include:

Hornbills: These large, colorful birds are a common sight in Tangkoko. The park is home to several species of hornbill, including the Red-knobbed Hornbill, the Writhed-Hornbill, and the Sulawesi Hornbill.

Kingfishers: Tangkoko is a great place to see a variety of kingfishers, such as the Sulawesi Dwarf Kingfisher, the Green-backed Kingfisher,the Lilac-cheeked Kingfisher, and great billed kingfisher.

Parrots: Sulawesi has six endemic parrot species, and Tangkoko is a good place to see some of them, such as the Blue-backed Parrot, the Ornate Lorikeet, and the Red-breasted Paradise Parrot.

Pitta birds: These colorful, ground-dwelling birds can be difficult to spot, but they are present in Tangkoko, that Sulawesi pitta and Some time  Hooded Pitta show up around tangkoko.

Mountain Mahawu - Tomohon

Endemic birds:Due to its geographical isolation, Sulawesi is home to many bird species found nowhere else on Earth. Mount Mahawu offers the chance to see incredible birds like the Scaly-breasted Kingfisher, the Sulawesi Blue Flycatcher, and the Crimson-crowned Flowerpecker.

Diverse habitats: The slopes of Mount Mahawu feature a variety of habitats, from dense rainforests to open fields, that cater to a range of avian life.

Some of the birds you might encounter on Mount Mahawu include:

Kingfishers: Several Kingfisher species are found here, including the Scaly-breasted Kingfisher, the Green-backed Kingfisher, and the Purple-winged Roller.

Flycatchers: Keep an eye out for the Sulawesi Blue Flycatcher, the Pale-blue Monarch, and the Chestnut-backed Bush-warbler.

Go during the dry season. The dry season, from March to October, is the best time to go birding in Tangkoko and Tomohon. The weather is generally sunny and clear, and the birds are more active. But that doesn't mean it's bad in November-February, it's just more rainy, but it's great for birdwatching and photography.
Start early in the morning. Birds are most active in the morning and evening. If you want to get the best shots, try to be out early in the morning.
Be patient. Birds can be difficult to photograph. It takes time and patience to get the perfect shot.
Use the right equipment. A good camera with a telephoto lens is essential for bird photography. You may also want to consider using a tripod to steady your camera.
Be respectful of the birds. Do not disturb the birds or their habitat.
With a little planning and effort, you can capture some stunning images of the birds of Tangkoko and Tomohon.

And Tomohon is not inferior either because it has special species not found in tangkoko, such as Sulawesi Myzomela, Sulawesi Blue Flycatcher, Sulfur Bellied Whistler, Touquoise Flycatcher Etc. And more specifically for lovers of Kingfisher, Tangkoko and Tomohon, they contributed 10 types of kingfisher, 5 of which were endemic to Sulawesi, namely Green backed kingfisher, Sulawesi lillac, Sulawesi dwarf kingfisher, Great billed kingfisher, And Scaly breassted kingfisher.
