Itinerary tangkoko-tomohon

Birding to Tangkoko NR and Tomohon (Gunung Mahawu) for 7D


Typical of Transportation: Minibus, outrigger boat, and boat

Typical of Accommodation: Hotel, Homestay/Lodge.
Starting Point: Manado.
Ending Point:Manado. 

 

Side Covered : Tangkoko nature reserve, Tomohon-Mt. Mahawu.

Day 1: Arrival in Manado – Tangkoko Nature Reserve.
You arrival in Manado, meeting service, transfer to Tangkoko Nature reserve, birding along the way (if possible) 
Night: Homestay or lodge near park. In tangkoko you will share the room, that for 1 room is can stay 2 people, with room facilities : air condition, warn bath, mosquito net and  free internet access (wifi.)

(Dinner is included).

Day 2,3,4: Tangkoko Nature Reserve.
Full day of birding in the park to look for target species such as Lilac-cheeked Kingfisher, Green-backed Kingfisher, Ruddy Kingfisher,Sulawesi Dwarf kingfisher, Knobbed Hornbill, Red-bellied Pitta, Spot-tailed Goshawk, Sulawesi Goshawk, Purple-winged Roller, Sulawesi Babbler, Blue-backed Parrot, Yellow-breasted Racquet-tail, Isabelline Bush-hen, Sulawesi Nightjar, Tabon Scrubfowl, Large Hanging Parrot and Pygmy Hanging Parrot, Ochre-bellied Boobook, Pied Cuckoo-shrike, Sulawesi Triller, White-bellied Imperial Pigeon, Silver-tipped Imperial Pigeon, Sulawesi Cicadabird, Sulawesi Hawk-eagle, Sulawesi Serpent Eagle and Sulawesi Short Crested Myna. A part of the day using an outrigger boat trip across mangrove forest to see Black-billed Kingfisher, White-rumped Cuckoo-shrike and shore birds. In the evening you’ll be introduced for nocturnal primate or Tarsier called Tarsius spectrum that can be found in the North Sulawesi only. 
Night: Home stay or lodge near park.

 Day 5: Tangkoko – Tomohon (G. mahawu).

Early morning we do birding in the hills , stay in one spot to see the high bird like a pigeon,parrot,hanging parrot,eagle, dwarf hornbill Etc.

We leaving from around noon heading  to Tomohon and chek in, hotel with share room (Gardenia Tomohon) (G.mahawu – Hotel is about 30 minute). You can have birding around the hotel in flower garden to spotted 1 target species that Sulawesi myzomela.

Night at the hotel.

( Lunch, and Dinner included).

 Day 6 : G.mahawu birding location

Early morning we leave around 5 am to spotted scaly breasted kingfisher,superb fruit dove, sulawesi pitta if lucky time, Etc

Day 7 : Tomohon – Airport.
After breakfast packing stuff, trip continues driving to airport, or if still have time we can make morning  trip to gunung mahawu to look for target species that still miss  in the day before.
